Rolling Into Camping Season With My VW Taos

Two years ago, I hit "publish" on a little blog idea called Fitness Adventures with Liz. I didn’t know what it would become—just that I wanted a space to share my healing journey, my love of the outdoors, and how moving my body helped me reconnect with myself after a tough chapter in life.
Now here we are. Two years, dozens of trails, countless workouts, and so many personal breakthroughs later, this space has become something I’m incredibly proud of. It’s been a home for sweaty selfies, honest reflections, gear reviews, camping stories, and moments of vulnerability that I never expected to share—but am so glad I did.
And as I gear up for another epic camping season, I’m doing it with a few game-changing upgrades: a new ride, a dialed-in packing system, and a stronger-than-ever mindset.
Meet My New Adventure Ride: The VW Taos 🚙💨

First things first—let’s talk about the VW Taos. After retiring my trusty 2009 Toyota Corolla (RIP to one of the best cars I have ever owned), I knew I needed something versatile, reliable, and ready for all my road trip dreams. Enter the Volkswagen Taos: compact SUV, surprisingly spacious, and perfect for loading up with gear, food, and even enough space for Miss Roise.
It handles beautifully on winding backroads, has great fuel efficiency, and hello cargo space—perfect for hauling everything I need for a weekend in the woods. Plus, the sleek black exterior just feels so me.
The Taos already has two mini trips under her belt, and I can’t wait to take it to some of my favorite Ontario parks this year (and maybe even cross a few new ones off the bucket list). It’s officially my new adventure-mobile, and I’m already dreaming of all the places it’ll take me.
What’s Next for Year 3?
I’ve got big plans for this third year of Fitness Adventures with Liz. Expect:
More camping & hiking content from Ontario’s best parks
"Pack with Me" videos featuring the Taos
Easy campfire-friendly meal prep ideas (with macros!)
Mental health check-ins and how nature keeps me grounded
Reviews of my favourite new gear
Mini fitness challenges you can do on the trail or at camp
I’m not just setting up camp—I’m setting up this next chapter with intention, grit, and joy. Two years in, and I’ve never felt more aligned with this little blog and what joy it has brought to my life. I know these last few months it has been quiet around here, but rest assured, I am now refocused and ready to really focus on writing and keeping you all in the loop!
Make sure to check out my TikTok page! I have not been posting as much on Instagram lately. I personally feel the community that I have built on TikTok is more engaging and is interested and not just there to cause drama.
Hope you guys are just as excited for year 3 as I am!
Happy Camping 🏕️
Love,
Liz
